Honorary CSM of the Regiment Raymond C. Barrett, 86, of Arlington, Ore., passed away April 24, 2016 at his home. A celebration of life service was held May 7 at United Methodist Church, Arlington, Ore., followed by a graveside ceremony with military honors at the Arlington Cemetery. He was born in Manastee, Mich., to the late Bud and Sue Barrett. He joined the U.S. Army at age 17 and served for 26 years distinguishing himself in the Korean and Vietnam wars, earning a Silver Star, a Bronze Star for Valor with two oak leaf clusters, the Distinguished Flying Cross, two Purple Hearts and numerous other awards and honors. After retiring he was a barber, a supervisor for a hardware chain and then purchased Coast to Coast Hardware in Arlington, Ore. Where he lived out his life. He served on the local school board, as a port commissioner and a justice of the peace. In addition to his parents he was preceded in death by two brothers and a sister. He is survived by Lola Elizabeth Navy Barrett of Arlington, Ore., formerly of Biscoe; sons, Dan Barrett of Olympia, Wash., Dennis Barrett of Spokane, Wash., Mike Barrett of Centralia, Wash.; daughters, Cindi Davidson of Arlington, Ore., Michelle Holmes of Sandy, Ore.; sister, Barbara Knoll of LaPorte, Ind.; nine grandchildren; 11 great-grandchildren; and two great-great-grandchildren. In lieu of flowers memorials may be made to the CSM Ray Barrett Memorial Fund of the Bobcats Association, at Bobcat Association, c/o James Caudle, 1501 Baychester Ave., Norfolk, VA 23503.
