Joe Guerra Obituary It is with heavy hearts that we say good-bye to our dad, Joe R. Guerra. Jr., age 76, who entered into eternal rest on Tuesday, November 14, 2023. He was born in Raymondville, Texas to Jose R. and Genoveva Guerra. Joe is preceded in death by his parents, his brother Omar Guerra, his maternal grandparents Jose Maria and Genoveva Chavez and his paternal grandparents Pablo and Margarita Guerra. Joe is survived by his daughter Margaret (Frank) Briones, his son Avan Orlando (Imelda) Guerra and by the mother of his children Becky Rios Robles. Also surviving are his sisters Sylvia Bravo, Melba (Raul) Garcia, Maria (Julio) Rodriguez and Andrea (Adrian) Cavazos. Others surviving are several aunts, numerous cousins, nieces and nephews. Joe attended school in Lasara and Lyford High School. He was drafted and served in the U.S. Army. He was deployed to Vietnam where he served in the infantry division. Sgt. Joe Guerra sustained several injuries and was awarded numerous medals including the Purple Heart and Bronze Star for meritorious service in the combat zone. Joe worked in several fields after his military service but evidentially found his love in truck driving. He worked for over 30 years in the trucking industry, traveling cross-country and Canada. After retiring from his driving, he returned to another field he enjoyed, which was farming. Tractor driving became his new way of enjoying retirement. He loved working the fields and sharing his expertise with those around
