Bobby Quillian Brock was born on February 28, 1935 in Nashville, Georgia to the late Lottie Jane Stone Brock and James Quillian Brock. He faithfully served his country in the United States Army for over 28 years, including four tours of duty in Vietnam. He was among the most highly decorated soldiers that served in Vietnam, earning the Distinguished Service Cross, two silver stars, four bronze stars and four purple hearts. The Distinguished Service Cross was awarded to Bobby for his extraordinary heroism during an ambush in which, notwithstanding being wounded twice during the attack, he moved among his wounded men to administer first aid and led them to a medical evacuation helicopter. When the helicopter was shot down during takeoff, he rushed to the wreckage and removed the men and crew to safety. He then directed his men into a defensive perimeter and called in supporting artillery fire to cover the approach of another ambulance helicopter. Not until all of the casualties had been extracted did he allow his own evacuation for medical treatment.Bobby leaves his legacy of selfless service and devotion to country to be cherished by his loving wife of 45 years, Haeng Sun Yun Brock, and his son, Benjamin Yi Brock, of Atlanta, Georgia.
