Charles William Elam, 85 of Crab Orchard, Kentucky died Monday evening June 16th, 2014 at the Christian Care Center in Lancaster, Kentucky. Charles was the husband of Betty J. Simpson Elam whom he married November 12, 1953. He was born November 11, 1928 in Crab Orchard, Kentucky and was the son of the late Charles F. Elam and Lorena Harris Elam .He was a veteran of the United States Army having served during the Korean War where he recieved one Silver Star. He was a longtime Deacon of the Crab Orchard Baptist Church. A former maintinence foreman of the Lincoln County Fiscal Court. He was a member of the Caswell Saufley American Legion Post 18 of Stanford, Kentucky. Member of the Crab Orchard Masonic Lodge # 636 of F & AM and was also a member of the Scottish Rite and he was a Shriner. He was a Kentucky Colonel and a former board of Crab Orchard Cemetery. Survivors Include: Wife, Betty and Son, Rodney & Wife Judy Elam of Crab Orchard Four Grandchildren: Justin & Wife Shae Elam Tonya & Husband Darren Pike Seth Elam and Friend Sandy Miller Tara Elam & Friend Derick Byrd Four Great Grandchildren Wyatt & Cheyenne Elam and Brady & Brock Pike One Sister: Lizzie & Husband Dee Harrison Funeral Date & Time: 12 Noon on Friday, June 20, 2014 Place: McKnight Funeral Home Chapel Minister: Bro.
