Alan L. Stevenson, 78 of West Chester, PA passed away Thursday February 3, 2022 at Paoli Hospital in Paoli after the fight of his life. He was the husband of the late Carol B. Stevenson. Born November 28, 1943 in Mill Hall, PA he was the son of the late Leroy Stevenson and the late Esther Klinefelter Stevenson. He was preceded in death by William Thomas Berry, 2/25/96, Nephew Carolyn Diane (Stevenson) Berry, 1/3/2020, Sister and James Robert Stevenson, 7/20/2020, Brother Alan grew up in Mill Hall, Bellefonte and Mingoville, PA. He joined the United States Army on December 28, 1961 and served until December 14, 1964 during the Vietnam War. He was a soldier in the 25th Infantry Division and extremely proud to have served his country. He worked as a Cable Splicer for Bell Telephone and later Verizon after their merger. He saw the introduction of fiber optics and was visionary in predicting the way we view television and movies today. It was probably sometime in the mid to late 80’s when he came home with a sample of fiber optics. Alan was a founding member of Camp Little Horn, in Beech Creek PA, a member of Pine Valley camp and Camp Confer. He was also a member/donator of the United Methodist Church, the NRA, the American Heart Association, the Alzheimer’s Association, the SPCA and many other organizations he cared about. He was an all American man with a high standard of conduct and a presence that filled a room. He is known and so loved by many. Alan fell in love with Hawaii when he was stationed there while in the Army but also loved the vast region of mountains in his home state of Pennsylvania. He was an avid gun enthusiast with a collection to prove it. He enjoyed hunting, driving his trucks, riding his tractors, drinking beers with friends and family, and just taking care of his family every day as a provider. Most of all, he was happy on his motorcycles. He drove cross country several times and loved bike week at Sturgis. He was also extremely intelligent with many varied interests you might not even know about unless you brought it up. Aside from his family, he fell in love with his “black labby” dogs when he brought home the first family puppy named Ben in 1985. Ben was followed by Buck, Jake, Mac and finally Zeke. He is survived by his daughter, Dana (Stevenson) Mimm and her spouse Donald Mimm, his son Neal Stevenson and fiancé Justine Jameson, and his stepson Daniel Zukow and spouse Dee Zukow; and 4 grandchildren Robin Wilcox, Benjamin Zukow, Jillian Zukow, and Tyler Stevenson; and 2 great-grandchildren Madilyn Wilcox and Brianna Wilcox.
