He entered the service at Fort Leavenworth, Kansas. He served as a Corporal in Company A, 5th US Infantry. He obtained the rank of Sergeant. He was awarded the CMOH for action during October 21, 1876 and January 8, 1877 at Cedar Creek, etc, Montana. His citation reads "Gallantry in actions". After his discharge from the United States Army, he disappeared into history, and his subsequent life and final disposition remain unknown.
