Walter Ade, 79, of Springfield, died at 8:32 pm, Sunday, May 15, 2011 at Memorial Medical Center. He was born October 3, 1931 in Bruchsal, Germany to Earnst and Frieda Rennwald Ade. He married Eunice Migon Holt on December 9, 1951 after meeting her in the viola section of the Illinois Symphony Orchestra. She preceded him in death on February 4, 2002. Also preceding him in death were his parents and one brother. Survivors include two daughters, Mary (David) Stanley of Brownwood, TX and Gloria (Benton B.) Ade-Read of Lincoln; three grandchildren, Harlan M. (Luciana) Stanley, Peter A. Stanley and Amanda A. (Toma Dimov) Dimova and five great grandchildren, Warren, Avalon, Sakiusa, Violeta and Milena. He was a member of South Side Christina Church; Korean War Veterans Association Chapter 27, Mercedes Club; Iron Riders, German Club, Smart Car Club, Railsplitter Wanderers, NRA and served as Captain of Illinois National Guard Rifle Team. He was active with the Prairie State Games. Walter served on the Board of Directors for the National Korean War Museum. After his marriage he was drafted into the United States Army. He served in Korea and while there his unit, the 5th RCT combat team, started an orphanage, the Sam Dong Boys Town in Seoul, South Korea, which he visited several times. He retired as a Lt. Col., from the Illinois National Guard.
