Doug Bishop, 71, of Mountain Dr., Candler, died Monday, August 27, 2012. A native of Buncombe Co., he was a son of the late Charles Harris and Dorothy Ellen Coe Bishop. He was preceded in death by his wife, Judy Ann Gatton Bishop. P.F.C. Bishop was a Veteran of Vietnam, serving in the Army in Company B, 1st Battalion, 5th Infantry 25th Division, APO 96225. He was a recipient of the Purple Heart. He is survived by a daughter April Bishop; son, Lonnie Bishop; grandson, Aaron Bishop; sisters Glenda Varnum, Catherine Capps, Sandra Strong; and a brother, Charles Bishop, Jr.
