Hugh Ruckdeschel Obituary RUCKDESCHEL, Hugh Wesley 90, passed in peace on Sunday, September 4, 2022. Preceded in death by his parents, John Francis and Edith Marion Ruckdeschel; longtime companion, Sue Lamont; and brothers, Phillip, and Robert. Hugh leaves behind his brother, John Ruck; former wife, Janet Ruckdeschel; sons, Michael Ruckdeschel and Martin Ruckdeschel; daughters, Teresa Brunton and Tammi Risk; grandchildren, Amber Ruckdeschel, Ashley Pedone, Blaine Brunton, Connor Brunton, Wesley Brock, Christopher Ruckdeschel and Sara Risk; and great-grandchildren, London Pedone, Elliot Brunton and Zane Brunton. He is further survived by several nieces and nephews. Hugh was a St. Petersburg native and resided in Treasure Island. Enlisting in the Army at 17, he served as Sgt. First Class G, 2nd Battalion, 5th Infantry Regiment, 71st Infantry Division. He worked as an Ammunition Specialist and was stationed in Germany. He fought in the Korean War, earning three Purple Hearts. Post war, Hugh was an electrician, IBEW Business Agent, realtor, author for the St. Pete Evening Independent, a St. Petersburg City Councilman, hotel owner, writing contributor for the T. I. Island Reporter, Commander of the American Legion, and more. Hugh's strong personality, loyalty, character, strength, and courage will be remembered by his family and friends during his memorial service on Sunday, September 25, 2022, at Anderson McQueen Funeral Home, 2201 Dr. Martin Luther King Jr. Street N., St. Petersburg, FL 33704, from 4-6 pm. Military Funeral Honors Service will be held on Monday, September 26, 2022, at Bay Pines National Cemetery, 10000 Bay Pines Blvd., Bay Pines, FL
