Send Flowers Share Willard Buckner Obituary Willard Buckner Fairview - Willard Buckner, 84, of Fairview, NC, passed away Thursday, March 12th. Mr. Buckner was born April 12, 1930 and spent most of his life living in Buncombe County. A recipient of the Bronze Star, he spent 20 years in the US Army, serving as a medic in both the Korean and Vietnam wars and earned the rank of Master Sergeant before retiring in 1972. Mr. Buckner is survived by his wife, Frances; his sons, Steve, Phil, and Chris; and his grandchildren, Nickie, Patrick, David, Stephanie Garner, Matt Ward, Allen, and Aimee. He is preceded in death by his daughter, Lynn. A memorial gathering will be held Sunday, March 22nd at 2 PM at the Spring Mountain Community Center, 807 Old Fort Rd., Fairview, NC 28730.
