DETAILS
On March 22, 1967, the Recon Platoon with personnel from the 169th Engineers cleared and secured the road from the "French Fort" to the Soui Da turnoff. Company A conducted S&D operations north to the 82 grid line. Companies B and C conducted S&D operations east of Highway 4. At 0825 hours, an APC from Company A hit an AT mine resulting in one Bobcat being wounded. At 0850 hours, Company C had an APC detonate a mine at XT 273744 resulting in eight Bobcats being wounded. At 1130 hours, an APC from Company A hit a mine at XT 245815. Four Bobcats were wounded. All elements closed the battalion forward base, now located at XT 255755, by 1700 hours. One of the wounded Bobcats from Company A died of his injuries.
