DETAILS
On June 29, 1969, Company C was providing security for Rome Plow cutting operations southwest of Trung Lap. Several booby traps were located during the morning and were disposed of. At 1435 hours, the Company located a booby trapped 155mm artillery round and blew it in place. At 1445 hours, Company C requested a gunship as they were receiving sporadic mortar fire. Also they reported that they had one Bobcat dead at XT 576206, who had stepped on a booby trapped 105mm artillery round, detonating it.
At 1642 hours, Company C reported that they found an 81mm mortar tube and a number of rounds of mortar ammunition in a bunker inside a small house at XT 569206.
The Recon Platoon provided security along Route 19 during the day.
