DETAILS
On September 12, 1966, the battalion(-) was detached from the 1st Brigade and returned to Cu Chi Base Camp, closing by 1215 hours. Company C established a blocking position at XT 540205 and was attached to the 1/27th Infantry. Also on the August 12, one Bobcat from Company C died from wounds he had received earlier. From September 13 thru 19, 1966, the battalion conducted maintenance and prepared for future operations. During the period the Recon Platoon conducted a three day search and destruction of a two level tunnel complex that was reported by a Chieu Hoi at XT 695117. A total of 1270 meters of tunnel were destroyed. There were also Medcaps and road runner operations conducted.
