DETAILS
On May 18, 1966, Company B was involved in a firefight. One of the soldiers was firing from an APC cargo hatch. Another soldier got up to relieve him and as the first went to sit down his rifle accidentally discharged, the round struck and killed the second soldier, who was standing in the cargo hatch. The man who fired the round, when he spoke of the incident, was very distressed and despondent about having killed one of his own men. He would have given anything to change what happened, but he knew that could never be.
